It’s caused by the Hepatitis A virus (HAV) and is typically transmitted through the consumption of contaminated food or water, person-to-person contact, consumption of raw or undercooked shellfish and poor sanitation.

Typhoid is a bacterial infection that infects the intestinal tract and can spread to other parts of the body. Contaminated water and food, as well as poor sanitation, are common sources of infection. It is sometimes referred to as “typhoid fever.”
