Dogs and Deliveries
Dogs and deliveries can be complicated. Our furry companions have a natural instinct to protect their owners and home from intruders. Unfortunately, this behaviour can make for an unpredictable and potentially dangerous situation when your delivery person is at the door.
If you are a dog owner, please follow some simple guidance to make sure your dog is secure before answering the door to your delivery driver:
- Sign up to receive tracking information about when your delivery will arrive. These email notifications will help you plan ahead to make sure you dog is secure before your delivery arrives. You can sign up here.
- Keep your dog in another closed room or even in their closed crate.
- Shut indoor gates and doors to prevent access to the front door.
- External letter boxes or letterbox cages on your door can be installed to protect fingers.
- Consider installing a dog gate on your front door (a foldable gate that prevents dogs from getting through the front door).
- Please don’t let children answer the door unless they are responsible enough to follow the guidance (especially during school holidays).
If you are walking your dog while we are delivering, please:
- Keep them on short lead and be aware of your surroundings.
- Consider crossing to the opposite side the road if it is safe to do so.
The Smarta Healthcare delivery team is committed to making sure you get your medicine as soon as possible. Please help us keep the team safe from dog bites and attacks.
