Smarta Healthcare launches sustainability partnership with Ecologi to reduce carbon footprint

Smarta Healthcare and Ecologi partnership

Smarta Healthcare has partnered with environmental organisation, Ecologi, to offset the carbon impact of the Bedford-based pharmacy and health clinic.

Each team member’s carbon emissions will be offset, including their travel, home-living, food, holidays and even hobbies. The partnership will help fund climate solution projects throughout the world, and a Smarta Healthcare forest will be planted.

“We’re acutely aware of the impact our business has on the environment. Pharmacy is a traditionally paper-heavy industry, so we are always looking at ways to be more responsible in the way we operate. With this new partnership with Ecologi, we’re hoping to provide a meaningful way of reducing our carbon impact, to protect the planet for future generations to enjoy.”

Smarta Healthcare CEO, Harjinder Singh

Smarta Healthcare uses 100% recycled packaging for their unique MedsTrays (dosette boxes), and delivers medications to patients using an energy-efficient Smart car. The pharmacy also helps care homes digitalise their medication management processes with eMAR technology, reducing paper waste.

At least 660 trees will be planted in the Smarta Healthcare company forest during 2023. The partnership will also help fund climate-positive initiatives throughout the world, such as peatland restoration and conservation in Indonesia, and a landfill gas electricity generation in Brazil.

Smarta Healthcare’s Ecologi page will visually represent the progress the company makes throughout the partnership.
